She’s singing the “Rocking Robin” song at the end of the story. Mommy taught her that one!

More updates to make up for lost time…

Posted on March 12, 2009

I am starting to feel guilty about not giving Chloe enough props for the leaps and bounds she has made, achievement wise.  So, here ya go!

She is very nearly potty trained! I say, “very nearly” only because she still wakes up wet every now and then, and she still has the occasional accident.  But, for the most part, she is doing really really well!  She hasn’t had a poop related accident (which was our biggest struggle) for almost a week (it will be a full week on Sunday.)  And she rarely has pee accidents.  She is still wearing a pull up at night, but I have vowed that after we run out of pull ups, we are done with that.  She is waking up dry more than wet, so there is hope.

She has mastered her colors!  She isn’t “guessing” anymore on red.  She is also starting to accurately use her colors to describe things.  “Mommy, the pink princess wants to talk to the yellow princess.”

She has mastered her shapes! Although, she will guess on triangle.  But she even knows what a octagon is!  How cool is that!

She can now do up to 12 peice jigsaw puzzles. I just discovered this one today.  Barely even helped.  The only help I gave was, “Chloe, you need the middle of the zebra.” and then she would put the rest of it together.

She can count to 14! Although, up to 12 is more consistent.  If she’s not concentrating on it, though, she goes up to 14.

She is starting to learn her alphabet. Her favorite letter is O, but she also learned circle before the rest of her shapes.  She can consistently can pick out:  X, W, L, B, V, D, G, and Q.  She occasional picks out the other letters, but its not consistent.  She also attempted to write her name today.  As she was writing it, she spelled, “C I L O I”  But, she did write the letters C and O.

As per usual: The child continues to be extremely verbal.  (Oddly, she doesn’t talk much when she isn’t at home.)  When at home, however, her language has just skyrocketed!  It shouldn’t be too much of a shock though, her mommy’s a “tawker!”

I think the hardest thing for me is she is growing up entirely too fast!  She is reaching the end of her time in her crib.  Of course, we took the side rail off when she was about 18 months old.  But now, between the pillow, all the toys she brings to bed with her, and her own length she is outgrowing the crib.  As I mentioned from my previous post, we have ordered a new bed.  But, it still makes me a little sad.  I want her to grow up, but I am constantly amazed how fast she is turning into a kid, and outgrowing the “toddler.”

I think she feels my regret at her getting older.  She is now calling herself my “Baby big girl.”  I think that she could probably keep this title for the rest of our lives, and I would be okay with that.

Birthday party, Snow Cones, and a REALLY big baby!

Okay, I know.  I haven’t written in, like, forever.  But, I have a lot of really good excuses.  Here they are in no particular order:

I am in the throes of planning Chloe’s birthday party.  Anybody who has attended one of my parties knows that it is quite an event that takes lots of research and planning.  This year we are doing a “Monkey” theme and we are having it at a place that has an indoor playground.  The good thing about this is I don’t have to clean and decorate my house for the party!  I did, however, decide to hand make the invitations again this year.  I thought they turned out REALLY cute!  Plus, they’re magnets!  So people can stick them on their fridge as a reminder of the party.  (Yay me!)

Along with planning Chloe party, John and I decided to get her a “Big-girl bed” for her birthday present from us.  We went back and forth between a loft bed with a bottom bunk, and a regular bunk bed.  At first, I really wanted the loft bed.  I loved the idea of all the extra storage, plus it had a desk and a book shelf all built in.  Chloe could sleep on the bottom bed until she was old enough to move to the top.  However, after measuring her room and looking at possible layouts, we quickly discovered that it wouldn’t fit.  So, we’ve decided to go with a traditional bunk bed with storage drawers underneath.  After hours and hours of research on line, and many trips to furniture stores, we finally ordered her bed.  It should be here next week!  Now, I have to find all new bedding.  Weee!

My niece, Tabby, is coming to visit in a couple of weeks and we have been trying to figure out an itinerary for her trip.  She’s nine already!  Time flies entirely too fast!

I am working on my ambitious lunar lander project, which with any hope, will be ready by early fall.  (I have no idea what this means, John told me to put it down.)

Anyway, just to update:

We went to the circus!  Chloe really seemed to enjoy it, for the most part anyway.  Towards the end of the first act she told me, “I am all done with the show, Mommy!”  I had to convince her we were going to stay until the end.  She enjoyed the second half all the way through.  Of course, it probably helps that we entertained her with a sticky sweet treat.  Her very first snow cone!

My friend Tara brought her baby to playgroup last week, and Chloe insisted on holding her.  It was really cute, especially since Kennedy is 7 months old, wearrs 18 month old clothes, and weighs 20 pounds (Chloe weighs 29.)

I was able to get a video of Chloe “reading” one of her favorite books, but I am having some issues with youtube (again)  I will post it when I get it figured out.
