We had an “Ice Cream Party” this afternoon with Ellen’s Crew. Yes, Feesh, I am pumping your child full of sugar. Muh ha ha ha!

My niece, Tabitha, flew in last night at 11:00 pm. Her flight was uneventful, and I was told she was well behaved. We had a couple of hitches getting home. The first, she INSISTED she had a HUGE red suitcase. She described it to me in detail, and pointed to a suitcase the same size as hers. We waited for twenty minutes until all the baggage was gone, and then went to find out what happened to her suitcase. Turns out, her suitcase was not red, but brown. And it was the size of a carry on. Lesson 1: Ask mommy to describe suitcase. CHECK!
Second, I was listening to her describe her flight instead of following the signs to the highway. We took a oh-so-minor detour home and didn’t get home until 1:00 am. No worries, she slept through most of the drive. Luckily, I did not.
Then, Chloe woke up at 5:30. John was nice enough to get up with Chloe and I got a couple extra hours of sleep.
Today we went to the American Museum of Natural History. It was the perfect day for it, since it was cloudy and rainy in New York. The girls had a great time, and much knowledge was acquired.

Two months ago, I looked down at my beautiful baby girl while she was climbing into her bed. The same bed that I did countless hours of research, visited more furniture stores than I would actually like to admit, and hemmed and hawed over while she was still a fetus in my belly. I designed her entire bedroom around this crib. I made sure that we got a convertible crib that would grow with her. It would work as a crib at two levels, a toddler bed when she outgrew the crib, and eventually, a head board for a queen size bed. Of course, that was when we were still in Westminster, and we had ABSOLUTELY NO PLANS to move anywhere for at least 10 years.
Obviously, plans change.
And, Chloe is no longer a baby. Now, I grant you that she could fit in her bed for a little bit longer. However, Chloe no longer sleeps alone. She sleeps with a pillow and no less than 4 stuffed animals. Between her growing taller and filling her bed with “friends,” she is outgrowing her baby bed.
In addition, unfortunately, her bedroom can’t really afford the space for a queen size bed.
Soo….I figured that a new “Big Girl Bed” would be an appropriate gift for her third birthday. Let the mission….begin!
Countless hours of research on line. Visiting multiple furniture stores. Getting frustrated with the pushy sales technique of New Jersey furniture salesman. Getting even MORE frustrated at our choices locally. John and I finally took a leap of faith, and ordered the bed on line.
I couldn’t be more pleased. We ordered a twin over twin bunk bed with under bed drawers. The piece fits perfectly in the room, and looks great with the dresser (formally the changing table, sniff) and the book shelf that Grandpa John handmade for us. After further shopping for a new quilt to fit the bed, the transformation is COMPLETE!
Of course, we had to take Chloe furniture shopping with us, so she knew the bed was coming. We just couldn’t wait for her birthday. And yes, we really suck at giving presents ON the day the gift is mean for.
Chloe is sooo excited to be sleeping in her big girl bed. She doesn’t even seem to care that its too early to be a birthday present.

What she lacks in skill (or actual dance moves) she makes up for with ENTHUSIASM!
