Me: Yes, sweetie, Santa is coming tonight and he’s going to bring you presents because you have been a good girl this year.
Chloe: Sampa Cause bring Chloe PRESENTS? I wuv presents. Big presents, wittle presents. Wots and wots of presents!
Me: Yes, but you have to be a good little girl or Santa won’t come.
Chloe: Where Sampa, is Sampa at work?
Me: Yes, he’s at work getting ready to bring presents to all the good little boys and girls. He will deliver them tonight. And when you wake up you’ll have presents in your stocking.
Chloe: I want presents NOW!
Me: Santa only comes when you are sleeping.
Chloe: Mommy, I take nap now?
Me: (Laughing quietly, because it is only 10am.) Not right now honey, its too early. Besides, Santa only comes at night when you are sleeping.
Chloe: Then Sampa come to Chloe’s house and get wots and wots of presents!

Yes, the child is EATING the cookie as she is decorating it. In the left hand, she has a tube of frosting. In the righ hand, she has a fistfull of sprinkles. The table was the perfect height for her to slide the cookie, wihout hands, into her mouth. I have to admit, I was impressed.
Less impressive: Her licking the flour off the wax paper after we finished rolling out the cookie dough.

We took Chloe to Santa in Colorado. I don’t think she would have sat on his lap if her idol, Sabrina, wasn’t holding her hand. Unfortunately, the picture we got was kind of lousy.
So, being the kind of mom that feels the need to torture my child for the sake of a good photograph, tried again at the Long Street Farms, with Ellen’s crew. We let them go first, so Chloe could see that Santa was a nice guy, then we put her on his lap. Chloe refused to look or talk to him. She had this look on her face the whole time like: “i understand that this is important for me to sit here, but damn if I am actually going to acknowledge this Santa guy.”
The really sad thing is, this picture isn’t any better. We tortured her for nothing. Sigh, just another thing she can tell her therapist about when she’s older.
