Update: Yes, there were tears.

And, they weren’t mine, I swear!

Chloe did fine when I dropped her off, she barely even noticed when I left.  It was kind of funny, because this other mother and I were standing there, awkwardly I might add, while our children ran off without us.  I was planning on staying in their entry way (which had benches) so I brought a book.  But, it quickly became clear that no matter where I was sitting, Chloe would be able to see me, and I didn’t want to set that precedent, so I left.  I sat in my car for a couple minutes, thinking, “Well, I could sit out here.”  But, then I realized that would be silly, and I went home.  (Her school is 5 minutes from our house.)

When I went to pick her up, it was obvious she had been crying (she gets red and splotchy.)  But, she was smiling and excited to see me.  The teacher told me that she had a rough time with the transitions (its a gymnastic program as well as a preschool program, so they go back and forth between the “classroom” and the gym).  Then a group of women showed up for an exercise class, and I wasn’t one of them.  That was the end of her cooperation.  Luckily, it was also toward the very end of class, so it wasn’t a big deal.  She seemed to have some fun, even with the issues.  The teacher assured me that it was normal, and that she would get used to the routine.

So, it went as well as could be expected, and it looks like I am going to start having some “free time.”  I am looking forward to that!
